If you are reading this, surely the new electronic invoice 3.3 has caused you some headaches, especially regarding its catalog of products and services. However, as part of the new measures established by the SAT, all taxpayers who issue a Digital Tax Receipt over the Internet (CFDI), need to know and correctly apply this new standard.
But, so that the subject is not so complicated, we go in parts.
What is the product and service key catalog?
In order to automate declarations more efficiently, as well as to have accurate information about your activities and those of your suppliers, the tax authority decided to apply a list with product and service keys in which you must identify the concept under which you want to invoice.
This catalog includes more than 52 thousand options of what we sell. In such a way that, from “fresh pompom cut chrysanthemum” to “golf course construction service”, everything is ordered and identified under a code and a description. This exhaustive classification work seeks to cover the greatest number of possibilities so that you can find what best suits your activity.
If you are interested in knowing the complete document, you can download it in Annex 20 of the SAT page.
How is the product or service key formed?
Each concept has a number to make it easier to locate. This figure is constituted by 8 digits that are arranged as follows:
Level | Location |
Division | First two issues. |
Group | Next two issues. |
Class | Next two issues. |
Subclass | Last two issues. |
For example, if I wanted to make an electronic invoice for “Ground coffee”, whose key is 50201706, in the list it would appear located under the route: Food, beverages and tobacco (50), Beverages (20), Coffee and tea (17), Ground coffee (06).
How to find the key to invoice my product or service?
Obviously, doing the search manually in the file would be a very tedious task, especially if you must invoice several concepts. Thinking about it, the SAT enabled a tool (which you can consult here), from where the filtering of this list is facilitated.
To find the concept in the catalog you have two options:
- Identify the route step by step and filter according to the degree of detail until you reach the objective. In that case you must first choose if it is a product or service, then select the division, group, class and finally subclass.
- Enter a word that brings you closer to the desired result.
In both scenarios, the page throws you a list with the terms that match your search and among which you will have to choose the indicated one. I remind you that the SAT has been very thorough with its descriptions, but it may not occupy the same words as you, therefore, it is advisable to use synonyms and verify that everything is well written.
What should I do if I have a large number of products to invoice?
In the case of those who have very large inventories and need to invoice many concepts, they must put together their own list and have it as a separate document. This may not solve the work of filtering and finding all the items for the first time, but at least this way you will avoid repeating this action every time you generate an invoice.
What option do I have to streamline my accounting?
Although there are free tools on the SAT portal to make your billing, a digital platform like Enconta is designed to streamline and facilitate your entire accounting process. For example, the most used concepts will accumulate in a list that will be available whenever you need them, so that you will no longer have to perform a new search for each CFDI you issue or depend on an external document to have your information at hand.
This is just one of many advantages of digital accounting, but if you want to know more, you’re in luck. There is a free trial of our platform waiting for you. Go ahead and discover why Enfinda is a comprehensive solution to your accounting problems.
